The Mission of Art Spaces is to establish a
collection of public outdoor sculpture in Terre Haute and
the surrounding region of the Wabash Valley.
Art Spaces grew out of the dedicated efforts of community and business leaders, arts professionals and interested citizens who began meeting in 2003 to focus on ways the arts could impact the economic development and quality of life in Terre Haute and the surrounding region of the Wabash Valley.
Out of the initial discussions the mission to establish
a collection of public outdoor sculpture began to take shape. Art Spaces
became a not-for-profit organization in 2005 and is located at 100 S.
Campus Drive in the southeast corner of Terre Haute.
Art Spaces is in a unique position to serve as a bridge
between the arts and economic development, and will continue to work with
other groups and organizations already active in the City to establish
a highly visible collection of outdoor sculpture, placed on carefully
chosen sites throughout the greater Wabash Valley. These sculptures will
provide a timeless cultural and economic impact on the region. |
